GEOFF WILLIAMS’ layout is a monument to modelling from a different age and, despite its vintage, it continues to inspire modellers all around the UK.

Ashford International Model Railway Education Centre (AIMREC) is a hugely exciting prospect; not only is it intended to provide a gateway to the hobby by teaching and inspiring newcomers, but it’s also set to provide a permanent home for around 20 classic layouts.


But until AIMREC opens its doors, the hobby must preserve unwanted or abandoned models as and where it can. For example, John Ahern’s ‘Madder Valley’ resides in Pendon Museum, Frank Dyer’s ‘Borchester Market’ (MR126) is looked after by Borchester Market Group, and Geoff Williams’ ‘Aylesbury LNWR’ has been faithfully restored and lovingly maintained by the Risborough & District Model Railway Club (R&DMRC)...
